Code of conduct

The International Symposium on Geofluids 2021 is an inclusive event based on treating all individuals respectfully, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), software preferences, research topic or methodology. So please don’t be nasty or mean. Be nice. Be considerate. Be civil. It’s easy.

We strongly value free speech. We also value our participants, and do not want any to feel marginalised or intimidated. One of the aims of the workshop is to provide a context for us to discuss together difficult and challenging scientific questions. Discussion and disagreement are fine (and indeed expected). These are completely compatible, and must be conducted, with the respect and civility described above. We also encourage everyone to think about how offhand comments they make about others may contribute to making some feel unwelcome in the group.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour must immediately comply. If a participant engages in any of the aforementioned behaviour, we may take any action we deem appropriate, from warning the offender to immediately expelling the offender from the symposium with no refund.
